The Gold Dust Cluster was a group of over 300 stars, many with inhabited worlds. In 5149 CE it was largely in the Republic of Cinnabar sphere of influence, although there were many independent worlds.
Its main export was the naturally occurring anti-aging compounds. Because of their value, piracy was a major concern. Republic of Cinnabar Navy based the Gold Dust Squadron on Nikitin.4:4 The squadron's main duty was anti-pirate operations.4:28
